School Programs

Pre-KG

Doon School welcomes student from 2-3 years old. Here they learn how to share their play space with other children’s. They also develop their motor skills, soft skills, sensory skills, languages, and get used to nursery rhymes and other activities. We implemented the ‘Smart Class’ program this year and it is basically about getting the children used to the idea of being away from home. It is meant to be more of a play-school. They are not expected to be tested in any way in the year. The purpose of the Pre-KG is to make the students discover their environment. The ‘Smart Class’ is all in english, since this language is crucial to be learn at an early age.

L-KG

In L-KG, children learn their alphabets in two languages, rhymes, improve their phonetic skills, start writing letters and numbers. Identify objects and other activities. The ‘Smart Class’ program covers english, stories, mathematics, general knowledge like ‘part of the body’, and colouring.

U-KG

Children get a review of their basic education in starting sessions. Then we teach them sounds, to count numbers upto 200, north- south directions, Holy places. There are also activities on their family, writing by joining letters together, constructing basic sentences.

Ist Grade

In Ist Grade, the sylabbus is divided into five major subk-jects, such as languages (English and Tamil), environmental science, begginners maths, value education and computer. We believe that the children need to have a good knowledge of english and computers, which they cannot learn from home.

IInd Grade

The IInd Grade is about maths (multiplication tables, counting money and block pattern), English and Tamil through proses, poems, storytellings. They also improve their knowledge about computers as methodological typing.

IIIrd Grade

Students in IIIrd Grade receive education regarding english writing, reading and comprehension. They are also initiated to science by studying on jungle safari, healthy food, thir garden or else food habits. In maths, they start doing multiplication, division, they also study dates, time, capacity, money and number patterns. In term of general knowledge, students are now aware of places, nations, capitals, pices, riddles or oceans. In order to improve their knowledge about computer, they learn what is inside a computer, the differents types of computers and different interfaces.

IVth Grade

At Doon, IVth grade is about english (reading, basic grammar), science as earth, natural resources, solar system. Kids are also familiarized with social science focusing on India, national symbols, safety, festival, or else folk art. In term of mathematical knowledge, students work on symmetry, reflection, perimeter and area. The teacher will also provide class on geneal knowledge and computer.

Vth Grade

In Vth Grade, students are required to have a good understanding of english grammar, animal habits, humain brain and sens organs. Moreover, kids will face maths problems regarding multiples, factors, fraction, angles, estimation or else length. They will also discover treasures around the world, the Indian government, frontiers, road safety, instrumental melodies. In order, to make the kids more and more familiar with technology, they will start working with wordpad, MS Office, Excel. Finalely, the children will be introduced to important days, forces of nature, Indian spices and environmental pollution.
